Travel Host Kim Haas discovered her passion for both travel and Spanish language and culture at just six years old, when a kind stranger in Mexico taught her to count to twenty in Spanish. Since then, her passion for Latin American communities led her to create and star in her own PBS show, Afro-Latino Travels With Kim Haas, focuses on the contributions of Afro-descendant cultures in Latin America.
For Kim, curating a series of group travel experiences influenced by the program are a natural progression. Her inaugural group trip, which took place in July 2022 in Costa Rica, even stemmed from a TV-viewer request! After her Costa Rica shows aired, Kim customized a tour combining opportunities to meet with Afro-Costa Ricans featured in the episodes.
From July 16-24, 2025, Kim will lead her newest tour to Colombia, visiting Cali (the salsa capital of the world), San Cipriano (a small eco-friendly village in the Colombian rainforest) Cartagena, (home to the UNESCO-recognized San Basilio de Palenque, the first free Black town in the Americas). Future tours are planned for Brazil, Guatemala, and Uruguay.
