March is Restaurant Month in Chicago
While the restaurant industry was one of the hardest hit by the fallout of COVID-19, cities like Chicago, known for its vibrant culinary scene, hope to bolster the return of restaurants with a series of re-imagined “Restaurant Weeks” this March. Already this year we’ve seen the return of a modified Restaurant Week in New York City, with more events on the way this spring in Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, etc., each with new dining options for customers not yet ready for indoor dining.
Though traditionally limited to dine-in operations, this year’s Chicago Restaurant Week (CRW), along with the locally-based Andersonville Restaurant Week and the inaugural Greektown Restaurant Week, both also in Chicago, will be offering specially-priced prix fixe carryout and delivery menus for diners to enjoy in the comfort of their homes. While the city-wide restaurant week shines a light on 265 participating restaurants representing 34 different distinct Chicago neighborhoods, the programs put on by Andersonville and Greektown, respectively, take a more localized approach in highlighting the offerings of their community eateries.
Additionally Let’s Talk Womxn, a business initiative of women restaurateurs founded in 2020 by Chicago local Rohini Dey, Ph.D. (owner of Vermillion restaurant) is debuting “Dine Together & Let’s Talk” on March 8, a multi-restaurant virtual dining experience of four to ten-course prix fixe menus (available via takeout) across nine U.S. cities (Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Phoenix, Lexington, Cincinnati and Bay Area / San Francisco) to help collectively support the restaurant industry.
Chicago-area diners can reserve multi-restaurant four-course ($85) or eight course ($160) meals for two from participating restaurants,
All guests are also invited to a Zoom conversation with the Let’s Talk restaurateurs, moderated by marquee names including Congresswoman Marie Newman and bestselling author and TED speaker Angela Duckworth.
